If you are an undisputed audiophilia and looking to invest in your next wired headphones, then next up on our review we have another serious contender in the shape of the Bose Quiet Comfort. Of course, Bose has long been associated with quality premium canceling headphones, and a transatlantic trip in Business Class wouldn’t be complete without several sightings of these on the ears of passengers up front! They really are the perfect choice for frequent travelers. They deliver a deep and powerful sound but are lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day long. You can also easily control your music and your calls on Apple devices via the inline microphone and remote control. Distinctively designed in either Black or White the Quiet Comfort 25 has been designed to look, feel and perform better. Everything you need is included with your purchase with an airline adapter, travel carrying case and a AAA battery all coming as part of your start-up kit.
The ear cushions are exceptionally comfortable, cushiony and pillow-like but they also deliver a good, fine-tuned fit. Really what’s not to love about these Bose Quiet Comfort 25’s and actually the price isn’t too bad either.
2Master & Dynamic MH40B1 Over-Ear Headphones
These Master & Dynamic headphones are surely a thing of beauty. As wired headphones go, these are nothing short of spectacular, designed to fit over the ear and super elegant with a touch of retro styling about them but with performance features that are anything but vintage. In a series of stylish and contemporary colored leathers with contrasting metal detailing they are exquisite. They’ve been designed to endure decades of use so while they are of course an investment, they are very much wired for both sound and longevity. They’re forged from an Aluminum body and feature custom Neodymium drivers. There’s also a metal mute/unmute button which is easily accessible. A great option when you are on the plane for example and the drinks service comes around!
They are exceptionally comfortable to wear with genuine lambskin ear pads that are breathable and contain memory foam plus can be easily removed for cleaning. The leather itself, which is in a variety of attractive colors, is of heavy grain cowhide so its durable. 3Edifier H840 Over-Ear Headphones
If you are looking for a more inexpensive bit of kit, then Edifier H840 could be a good choice for you. There are minimal bells and whistles, but they’re a great plug and play option, and they do look good, especially given the exceptional price point. They’re relatively comfortable too, but they don’t have any provision for taking calls, no Bluetooth or integrated Microphone either. The ear cups do however easily and conveniently fold for travel, and overall the sound is decent and pretty well balanced but by no means the best on this review today.
For serious lovers of music who want to appreciate all the notes, these might not be the best choice, but for a general lover of music who wants to look stylish but have a good sound quality at a budget price then these do the trick and are most definitely a step above the cheaper in bud alternatives. Overall we would say that these are a solidly built and extremely dependable too with a lightweight body and soft leather earmuffs combined with a reinforced but flexible steel headband. A great budget choice.

We’re going out on a big bag with these Bowers and Wilkins 97 wired over-ear headphones that are pretty sensational both to look at and to use. There has been a lot of technological thought, and advanced engineering put into these P7’s, and they work on a driver basis like the unit found in a hi-fi speaker. It’s a less is more approach enabling the driver to be more precise and to deliver a controlled movement. The ear-pads themselves are also advanced with lots of thought put into the end user experience. They have dual cavity cushioning so that they better mold to the contours of the head and deliver consistent air flow which in turn optimizes the sound quality.
