Trefecta Mobility E-Bike
The Trefecta Mobility E-Bike is one of the more luxurious electric bicycles out there, featuring top-of-the-line features that cannot be seen in much lower-priced products. Initially designed for soldiers and police officers, it has an impressive weight limit of 300 lbs and can travel over the roughest terrain. Plus, it is designed to be sturdy enough to travel from one operation to another.
There are 4 models to choose from (currently available for pre-order), but all of them are handmade and use an “injection molded aerospace-grade aluminum frame.”
While the price might put off many buyers, the manufacturers state that the price tag is mainly due to its unique design. It was all specially designed, from the suspension to the fly-by-wire control system. Very few off-the-shelf components were used in the bike itself, with all the rest custom-made.
Its specifications are also impressive, first with a battery life that is enough to travel 62 miles on one charge (the off-road version is, however, limited to 34 miles). It can reach a top speed of 43 mph (for the off-road bike). In fact, its zero-pedal and full-throttle modes have never been seen in electric bikes before. Instead, it is in a place somehow between e-bikes and motorcycles.
The foldable bike has a 20-inch Trefecta DRT frame made from 7075 aluminum (in the form of blocks as opposed to tubes). The 26-inch wheels are made of carbon fiber, which adds to its strength.
The electric drive has a 4-kW motor a SmeshGear transmission, and a 14-speed Rohloff Speedhub. When driving at low speed, the pedelec system manages the motor output but when you want to go fast, you do not need to pedal at all. All you need to do is to crank up the motor using the right-handlebar throttle.
You can choose between 6 colors and there are options for pedals and bike seats. An iPhone or iPod holder can be included and using your iPhone, you are able to track the bike and program the suspension settings. Other options are available via their app.
