Smart home technologies are continuously evolving. The Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell, for example, now comes with a Full HD camera to go with its high-quality microphone and speaker, stable WiFi connectivity, and advanced encryption. It’s a smart way to see who is right in front of your door and respond to it from virtually anywhere.
The Smart Video Doorbell is not really the first brand to offer such a feature set, however. There are other products in the market that offer the same exact technical features, although the hardware may be designed in a slightly different way. Nevertheless, the essence is practically the same.

The camera may only come with a 2-megapixel resolution but it is fully capable of shooting 1080p clips in full HD utilizing H.264 video codec. It has HDR capabilities and 5x digital zoom as well. It would have been a really huge plus if the camera system came with optical zoom for better clarity. Regardless, the Smart Video Doorbell also comes with infrared LEDs to help it see in the night. Its field of view is middle-of-the-pack at 160 degrees, however.
Built to be completely weatherproof, the Smart Video Doorbell features the HZO thin-film coating technology that helps give it ingress protection from dirt, dust, moisture, and water as well as other elements. In addition to its weatherproofing, the Smart Video Doorbell also comes with theft detection with instant notification to your smartphone once attempts at tampering are detected.
Netatmo’s Smart Video Doorbell may not be a unique technology in itself, but it does offer a number of features that are comparable to industry leaders.
