The BOSE Frames Alto has all the makings of a stylish and hip eyewear that’s perfect for cool gatherings and events. But the Frames Alto is not just any other sunglasses that protect your eyes against harmful UV rays. It’s an eyewear that boasts of BOSE’s signature audio AR platform that can create audio experiences like never before.
At the core of the Frames Alto is the BOSE AR, an augmented reality framework that provides a seamless integration of digital audio in real-world settings. There are a collection of tech-centric sensors that give it hands-free user interface, heads-up technologies, and developer libraries. It’s the kind of framework that will empower BOSE’s partners to create better and more engaging audio for music, fitness, travel, gaming, and communications content.
There’s one minor hiccup to the design of the Frames Alto, however. It only works on Bluetooth technology to communicate with other devices. It can pair with up to 8 different devices at a time for up to distances of 30 feet. It doesn’t feature other connectivity technologies like WiDi and WiFi. It is still a commendable wireless headphone, nevertheless, considering that it comes as cool sunglasses.
Speaking of its function as a sunglass, the Frames Alto provides up to 99% protection against UVA and UVB rays. They are not polarized, however, so the comfort it brings to the eyes may not be at par with polarized sunglasses. The BOSE Frames Alto is also not water-resistant; although it has a rating of IPX2. This should be enough for some light drizzle, but not for intense water activities.
The BOSE Frame Alto comes off as a neat way to enjoy your surroundings while listening to your favorite music. There are no wires or cables dangling from your ears and no tell-tale signs of a music-listening activity.
