Crappy’s Feel Better Hemp Co - CBD Tablets
Glo CBD - Chewable CBD Tablets
Santeer - CBD Tablets
When people talk about consumable CBD products, the conversation usually turns towards edibles—gummies, cookies, brownies, chocolates, and all sorts of exciting CBD-filled treats. But more medicinal deliveries are also common. CBD capsules, for instance, were one of the first edible CBD product categories to come to market. Easy to swallow, capsules digest slowly, and this makes the CBD take effect slowly, too.
Chewable CBD tablets, on the other hand, absorb quickly through the membranes in your mouth. This “high bioavailability” makes for a quick effect and controlled dosage. Compressed pills and tablets are easy to chew and swallow and an increasingly common delivery method for cannabis-based health products.
Newer to the market, chewable tablets are much like a chewable vitamin. They’re somewhere between gummy and pill. This makes them popular for administering CBD to pets. We spoke to experts, read customer reviews, and tried some products to gather the best CBD tablets.

Are Tablets More Effective Than Capsules or Tinctures?
The primary difference between tablets and capsules is the speed with which your body absorbs and uses the CBD. According to Daily CBD, the more water soluble a product is, the easier it is for your body to absorb it. Research shows that most CBD products consumed orally only offer about 20 percent bioavailability, while chewable tablets have been shown to offer 40 percent bioavailability.
Bioavailability is the “degree and rate at which a substance is absorbed into a system or is made available at the site of physiological activity.” It’s measured as the “percentage of an administered substance that reaches systemic circulation.” Any drug administered other than intravenously is subject to dilution by your digestive tract. And personal metabolism is different.
Chewable tablets offer higher bioavailability as a result of their solubility. The Santeer website claims that you can get “5–9 times more CBD from these tablets than CBD oils or capsules,” due to the fact that CBD is hydrophobic. Increased water solubility means higher bioavailability. According to CannaTechToday.com, “Santeer’s Chewable Tablet is ten times more soluble than soft gels, five times more soluble than hemp oil and tinctures, and twice as soluble than the latest water-soluble products currently on the market.” Chewable products are also absorbed within the sublingual glands for almost instant relief.
While capsules are still more common and make up a larger variety of product offerings on the market, their bioavailability is relatively low. Even when compared to oils, the yield of dosage to effect is lower in capsules thanks to liver function, other underlying health conditions, dosage, consuming with food, whether or not the CBD was heat processed, etc. It can take up to 2–3 hours to feel the benefits of a CBD capsule but until 2–3 hours after you swallow it.
According to Chris Denicola, founder of Prism Science and Santeer CBD, “when compared to tinctures, tablets allow your body to absorb 5–9X more CBD. The key difference is low bioavailability vs. high bioavailability of the chosen delivery method. Cannabinoids, being the oil-based substance that they are, don’t dissolve well in water. And since our bodies are made of roughly 60% water, most of the CBD you consume after eating something like a 50mg gummy won’t be absorbed by your body. Oil and water don’t mix, so, essentially, you’re flushing away most of that CBD.”
