Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm Nerf Gun
Nerf N-Strike Jolt Blaster
Nerf N-Strike Mega Mega Mastodon
Let’s face it – we all get jealous when we see kids playing with Nerf guns. Nothing compares to the pure joy that you get running around the house shooting Nerf darts at each other. Whether you’re buying a Nerf gun for a kid or secretly getting one for yourself, we’ve got the best Nerf guns available.
The Best Nerf Gun
1Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm Nerf Gun
First up is one of our all-time favorite Nerf guns. Sure, it’s not the best Nerf gun ever made, but it’s more fun than most. The main reason we like Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm Toy Blaster is that it’s based on a handgun. More to the point, it’s based on a revolving handgun. The type John Wayne used in all those famous westerns. You might not look exactly like a gunslinging cowboy (thanks to the blue and orange color scheme) but you’ll certainly feel like one.
The revolving chamber holds 6 darts, which can be shot up to 90 feet (27 meters). That means you can hit your target safely from the other side of the room. It’s easy to load by hand and you can fire them quickly using the Slam Fire feature. Move the slider back and forth as you hold down the trigger down and the darts will fire out in quick succession. 2Nerf N-Strike Jolt Blaster
Our other favorite handgun-style Nerf blaster is the Nerf N-Strike Jolt Blaster. If you’re looking for an entry-level Nerf gun, this is one of the cheapest and one of the best. As we get into the more serious Nerf guns, you’ll see how serious they can get. This one takes things back to basics. You can only load one Nerf dart at a time but they come out pretty fast, despite this gun’s tiny size. And when we say tiny, we mean it. This is easily small enough to hide inside your pocket. You can get close to your enemy and surprise them.
Because this is an entry-level Nerf gun, they don’t give any information about the firing distance or anything like that. All we can say is that it’s surprisingly powerful. It only comes with 2 Elite Darts, so you’ll probably want to buy a pack of Nerf darts to go with it. You’re not going to win a war with this little toy blaster, but you’ll quickly become addicted to the world of Nerf.

3NERF Zombie Strike Brainsaw Blaster Nerf Gun
In the event of a zombie attack, you need to be extra prepared. What happens if your Nerf blaster toy gets jammed? You’re going to get eaten pretty quickly. Not with the NERF Zombie Strike Brainsaw Blaster. It has a spinning foam saw that acts as a backup weapon when your gun gets jammed or the ammo runs out. Pull the string and the saw spins. The gun shoots 1 dart at a time but can hold 8 darts. That means you don’t have to reload every time a zombie tries to attack you.
The best thing about this Nerf gun is the green and orange styling. If your kids are into fighting zombies, they’re going to be into this Nerf gun. There’s a whole range of zombie-based Nerf guns that you can collect and they come with their own line of Zombie Strike darts to match. The only complaint that we have about this gun is that it’s not very durable. The pump-action and string-pulley could break quite easily if your kids are heavy-handed (most of them are!). The best toy blasters cost more money, but they will stand up to much more abuse. In any case, this gun makes a nice and fun Christmas gift for your kids this year.

4Nerf N-Strike Modulus Ghost Ops Evader
The N-Strike Modulus Ghost Ops Evader is one of the coolest Nerf guns you can buy. It has a clear plastic body, so you can see the inner-workings of the gun as you shoot down your enemies. They’ve also lined the inside of the gun with LED lights that you can turn on and off. This adds a whole element to the Nerf gun experience, allowing kids to go into ‘stealth mode’ when they are in the dark.
It has a 12-dart clip, so you can fire off 12 Nerf darts without reloading. 12 standard darts are included in the pack, but you could buy some glow-in-the-dark darts to really make this gun special. People have been asking us: “What is the best Nerf gun for modding?” We think this one is up there with the best. You can buy upgrade kits, accessories, and more to optimize this gun’s performance. There are over 1000 possible combinations in the Modulus system, so you could create a unique Nerf gun.

5Nerf Centurion Mega Toy Blaster with Folding Bipod
If you’re serious about firing from a distance, this is the sniper rifle of the Nerf gun world. It can fire darts up to 100 feet (30 meters), so you can keep plenty of distance between you and your intended target. Some customers on Amazon have complained that the accuracy isn’t perfect, but what can you expect from a toy? With some practice, it’s easy enough to hit a target.
This Nerf Centurion Mega Toy Blaster with Folding Bipod looks big in pictures but it’s much bigger in real life. So big, in fact, that you need a bipod to fire it properly. The bipod folds down from the gun allowing you to get in a comfortable position to fire (like a sniper would). It has a 6-dart clip and comes with 6 Nerf Mega Darts, which are designed for power. The size of this gun alone is enough to intimidate your Nerf opponents – it says it’s suitable for kids aged 8 and above, but if there are such things as Nerf guns for adults, this is one of them. Smaller children will struggle to pick it up, let alone fire it.

Includes 6 Nerf mega darts
Folding bipod included

6Nerf Zombie Strike SlingFire Blaster
The Nerf Zombie Strike SlingFire Blaster is the second zombie Nerf gun we’ve featured. This gun might not feature a spinning foam saw, but it’s still got enough firepower to ward off a zombie attack. You can load six darts and reload the gun with one hand thanks to the reloading lever. This makes it feel like an old repeating rifle, the kind used by cowboys and military men in the 1800s and early 1900s.
One of the main reasons to buy this Nerf gun is the zombie-inspired design. It has an orange and green body with a brown handle and grey tape. It looks like it’s made up of parts of other guns in an apocalyptic world. Check out the Amazon reviews and you’ll see some of the best Nerf gun mods available for these guns. Because they’re relatively simple inside, they are well suited to nerf gun modding. Like the NERF Zombie Strike Brainsaw Blaster, it suffers from being a bit flimsy – it could easily break if it gets dropped.

7Nerf N-Strike Mega Mega Mastodon
If you really want to blow your Nerf opponents out of the water, you need the Nerf N-Strike Mega Mega Mastodon. We reckon this is a strong contender to be the best Nerf gun in the world. It has a huge 24-dart rotating drum that stops you from having to constantly reload in the heat of the battle. The Nerf Mega Whistler Darts it fires are twice the size of normal Nerf darts, so you can really dominate the battlefield. Plus, the motorized action allows you to fire much quicker than everyone else. This thing really is a beast. If you want to ruin a fun Nerf party by bringing an oversized and overpowered cannon, buy it now.
In all seriousness, it is an impressive piece of kit. It’s so powerful it can shoot Nerf darts up to 100 feet (30 meters). Honestly, it’s not that accurate. But that doesn’t really matter because you can shoot more darts than everyone else. It’s designed for kids aged 8 and above, but your 8-year old would have to be a tank to carry this for any length of time. This is really a Nerf gun for adults who haven’t grown up yet.

8Nerf Rival Nemesis MXVII-10K
Not all Nerf guns are created equally. And, not all Nerf guns use darts. The Nerf Rival Nemesis MXVII-10K fires out high-impact rounds (small foam balls) that can shoot quicker, further, and more accurately than Nerf darts. Taking one of these guns to a standard Nerf fight isn’t fair. It has a large hopper that can hold 100 rounds, so you can fire continuously without having to reload. Amazingly, it can shoot rounds at 100 feet (30 meters) per second.
If you want to have a long-lasting and serious Nerf battle, this is the weapon for you. It fires rounds quickly and with enough power that your opponent can feel them (it won’t hurt). The only annoying thing is that you have to pick up 100 foam balls after you’ve finished, which is much less fun. It’s worth noting that the expensive 9V (D) batteries don’t last very long. It’s worth investing in a pack of rechargeable batteries to get the most out of this gun.

100-capacity hopper
Rounds travel at 100 feet (30 meters) per second

9Nerf N-Strike Elite Rhino-Fire Blaster
The Nerf N-Strike Elite Rhino-Fire Blaster is one of our favorite Nerf guns. It’s not the best gun for a quick-moving Nerf battle. But, if you can find some cover to set up your gun, this is one of the best there is. It has 2 drums that hold 25 darts each, so you have a total of 50 darts with each time you reload. The blaster has two cannons that shoot simultaneously to give you ultimate firepower in a battle.
This Nerf blaster can be a bit hard to handle, which is why it has a large removable tripod. You can extend the tripod out and secure the gun into position, giving you more accuracy. It can shoot darts up to 90 feet (27 meters), so you don’t need to be that close to the competition.

10Nerf Rival Zeus MXV-1200 Blaster
The Nerf Rival Zeus MXV-1200 Blaster is one of the simplest Nerf guns that fire the foam balls instead of foam darts. It has a clear plastic magazine that holds up to 12 rounds and can be loaded quickly and easily. It’s not as beefy as the Nerf Rival Nemesis MXVII-10K, but it still packs an impressive punch. We like how easy this gun is to use. If you’ve got plenty of rounds (there’s only 12 included), you can reload this gun in a matter of seconds.
Because this is one of the entry-level Nerf guns in this style, you can’t find much information about how far they fire the round. But we can tell you that it’s powerful enough to be enjoyable. You can buy extra accessories for this gun, but they’re not really necessary. It does have flip-up sights, a lock for the trigger, and a jam-clearing door. If you’re looking for a budget Nerf gun that shoots foam rounds, this is our favorite.
