Nixon Dork Too Watch
Classic men’s watches exude with elegance and style befitting the gentleman wearing it. There are also wristwatches that are specific to a particular profession, such as deep-sea diving. But if one were to classify the Nixon Nerd Alert DORK Too Watch, you’d end up more baffled than you can imagine. It is a wristwatch, but not in the traditional sense of the word.
For starters, the DORK Too doesn’t resemble any of the digital watches that you can see in the market. It is possible to see a similar contraption in dodgy shops, but never in mainstream stores.
What is baffling is the large upper section of the wristwatch that occupies more than two-thirds of its face. What you can conjure is the speaker from Charlie’s Angels. Below this element is a strip of black glass with red-colored LED indicating the time. This is the only part of the Nerd Alert that speaks of its being a wristwatch. The black glass panel also features a small square button with an unrecognizable icon. The red-colored LED digital chronograph is quite difficult to see in bright daylight. If it had been a different color, it would be easy to read.
Is the Nerd Alert DORK Too watch for real?
It is real alright, but it is something that should never be taken seriously. The caseback comes with engraved text that reads “No Water Stainless Steel”. Underneath this text is another phrase that suggests the Nerd Alert is not for those who mean business. With the words “China Movement”, you already know that this is a wristwatch that aims to make timekeeping more fun.
To make matters more hilarious, pressing the button on the black glass will make the DORK Too holler the time. That’s where the speaker-like component comes in. Try pressing this in a board meeting and the entire room will erupt in laughter. There’s one thing positive about this, though. You no longer need to read the time. The Nerd Alert can shout the time for everyone to hear.
This is not to say that everything about the Nerd Alert is a laughing matter. It also features some serious stuff like micro USB-recharging capability. The case itself also features injection-molded stainless steel.
